BURKE COUNTY, Ga. – A fatal accident involving a side-by-side multipurpose vehicle occurred on the evening of August 17th, drawing a response from Burke County Sheriff’s deputies. The crash took place around 9:35 PM at the intersection of Greiner Circle and Eagle Pass Road.

Deputies arrived at 240 Eagle Pass Road to find the yellow side-by-side multipurpose vehicle upright in a hay field. The driver, a white male whose identity is being withheld pending next of kin notification, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Three other passengers were ejected from the vehicle during the accident and were transported to Well-Star Hospital in Augusta for medical evaluation and treatment.

Initial investigations suggest that the driver lost control of the vehicle while traveling on Greiner Circle at Eagle Pass Road, leading the vehicle to veer off the roadway and overturn multiple times in the adjacent field, ejecting the passengers.

The Burke County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. Further details are currently unavailable as the investigation remains active.
